Are you new? If not, list your current characters: Yes/No. I played back at LJ on Mohinder here but I had resisted coming to DW with the move. Now that I have finally decided to import Mohinder over, I'd love to come back.

IC Information:
Name: Dr. Mohinder Suresh
Fandom: Heroes
Timeline:Between episode 211 "Powerless" and the start of season 3
Age: 33
Appearance: Mohinder is of Indian decent with dark skin, black hair and brown eyes. He is 5'9" in shoes and though leanly muscled, is unimposing in appearance. His casual fashion is typical of thirty-something academics, though he favors bright colors and layers with khakis, skinny jeans, and brown boots. While teaching in India, he preferred linen suits. He wears a wrist watch and a silver thumb ring.

Abilities: Mohinder is a normal human being with no evolved abilities or super powers. He is a professor and a geneticist. The latter gives him skill to draw blood, prepare slides, and work lab equipment though he is not a medical doctor. He has participated in clinical trials however and can handle basic first aid. He is academically minded and very intellectual, though he does seem to fail when it comes to common sense. He is trilingual, speaking Hindi and English fluently while knowing enough French to get by with.

Personality: Mohinder is a professor and a geneticist from Madras, India. He has a PhD in parapsychology and use to teach at the University of Madras. He has always attempted to follow in his father's footsteps, trying to get recognition for his own work while building off of his own father's research. Mohinder and his dad have a very rocky relationship stemming from the death of his older sister. Mohinder was conceived to produce antibodies for his sister, who had contracted a virus that attacked and killed any evolved human being. Though he was born with those antibodies, it was too late to save his sister.

Despite Mohinder's clash with his father, who had run off to America to try and find other evolved human beings, Mohinder still defends him. When he is told that his father died, Mohinder takes a leave of absence from his teaching position, packs up what he can of his father's work, and goes off to New York City to discover why his dad was killed and to continue his work.

Mohinder is a born skeptic, as any good scientist ought to be. Though he does believe his father's theories about evolved humans and super powers, he needs to see them for himself, first hand. He is quick to dismiss other people at first that claim to have powers but can't reproduce them. Conversely, he is also extremely gullible and easy to dupe. Over and over again, Mohinder's want-it-to-be-true nature has gotten him into trouble. He rarely stops to think through certain situations and is caught up in the plots of others because he feels himself powerless to do anything else. Despite all of his book smarts, Mohinder rarely shows signs of having common sense.

Mohinder has an inflated sense of morality. Though he is sometimes forced to do things outside of his comfort zone, more often than not, he rebels when pushed too far even if that gets him injured. As a former employer put it, Mohinder's moral compass points true north. He tries to be heroic and though he is far from cowardly, he is very easy to spook. He can be annoyingly persistent at times and is willing to drop his entire life for causes he believes in with very little provocation.

That said, Mohinder finds it very hard to forgive people that have wronged him. Though he is a religious man (the Hindi faith does not conflict with science as some monotheistic belief systems do), he also embraces revenge. Mohinder can be as cruel as he is kind and generally takes it upon himself to deal with problems (and usually in somewhat stupid ways that puts him into more danger than it is likely worth). He gets very focused and sometimes can refuse to see reason.

Though Mohinder has had long term relationships, and actively accepts romances, he has never been married and is childless. Just the same, he considers himself a father to Molly Walker, a little girl he helped to save from the same virus that killed his sister. For a few months, she lived with him in his apartment in New York along with Matt Parkman, who Mohinder took in to help him recover from his gun shot wounds during a battle against the super powered villain, Sylar, at the final show down of Season One.

Mohinder genuinely loves Molly and has since sent her off to stay with his mother in India where he thinks she'll be safe.

History: Mohinder was born to Dr. Chandra Suresh and his wife in India for one purpose: he was suppose to save his sister Shanti from a disease named after her with his antibodies. Unfortunately for the Suresh family, Mohinder was born too late to cure his sister and she died when she was seven. Father and son never became close and Mohinder always assumed it was for this reason that he was never able to please his father or meet his expectations for him.

Mohinder grew up wealthy and therefore well educated. He followed in his father's footsteps, always looking for his approval, by becoming a geneticist. He studied at Cambridge University in England, was hired by a large pharmaceutical firm, was engaged and seemed to have his life on track. Unfortunately for Mohinder, he believed himself destined for greater things. When his father began to research the idea of human evolution, postulating that humanity was able to evolve super human (and superhero) qualities such as unaided flight, underwater breathing, telepathy and rapid cellular regeneration, Mohinder left his job and his bride-to-be to return to the University of Chennai to assist. He became a professor at the University after his father became obsessed with his work and left his mother to go to America to research his project.

He was killed there and Mohinder, curious to discover who would want to kill Chandra and for what reason went to New York where he took over his father's apartment, his part time job driving a cab, and all of his research. Chased by a group of people that track and follow people with the same abilities Chandra postulated, Mohinder cracked his father's codes on how to find people with abilities. He met with many dead ends until a man named Zane Taylor returned a phone call. Unfortunately, Zane was actually Sylar, the man that killed his father and other evolved human beings for their powers, and he used Mohinder to lead him to more special humans. Mohinder discovered this too late but still managed to drug Sylar. In an attempt to seek revenge for the deaths Sylar caused, Mohinder used a sample of his spinal fluid to further his research and attempted to kill Sylar. Unfortunately, Sylar had managed to use his telekinesis to stop the IV drugs. Mohinder narrowly escaped with his life.

Mohinder decides to help the Company and is introduced to Molly Walker, a little girl whose abilities allows her to find anyone anywhere in the world just by thinking about them. She was inflicted with the Shanti virus and Mohinder was able to cure her just before Sylar was met by several other men and women with extraordinary powers outside of the building he was working on. Mohinder was able to help Molly escape with the help of a telepathic LA police officer, Matt Parkman to street level. Matt attempted to help the others defeat Sylar and shot a clip of bullets towards the serial killer. Sylar was able to turn them back on Matt with his telekinesis, shooting Parkman in the chest.

Sylar was defeated and Mohinder took in a hurt Matt Parkman after his release from the hospital and decided to raise Molly Walker as their ward.

Mohinder was recruited by Company defectors to help take down the Company from within and was successfully recruited by Bob Bishop to help research the Shanti virus and it's mutations. He was given his own lab to work in, but was monitored closely. He was forced to do some questionable things for the Company to retain their trust. After being partnered with Elle, Bob's daughter, who was able to generate electricity, he was forced to kill friend and former Company Agent Noah Bennet to collect his daughter's blood (which had regerative powers). Mixed with his antibodies, that blood was able to cure the new mutated strand of Shanti.

Unfortunately, Sylar was not dead and held Molly hostage to force Mohinder to help him. Sylar had contracted a previously incurable strain of the virus and after threatening Molly, Mohinder cured him. Elle came to recapture Sylar but he escaped. Scared that he had given the serial killer back his ability to hurt people, Mohinder sent Molly to India where she would be safe with his mother and was on his way from the airport back to his apartment to pack so that he could join her in his homeland.

It is from that point that I am taking him for this game.

Roleplay Sample - Log:
Mohinder stopped off at Starbucks on the way back home to Brooklyn, eyes red-rimmed and heart heavy. Letting Molly go, after losing Matt and being flung again into the power play between the Company and a man he watched 'die' on the sidewalk at Kirby Plaza, had been more than just a little difficult for him. He did manage not to tear up until he was back in the car; Molly was seen off with a brave face and a promise that he would be with her again soon. Now, standing in line for overpriced coffee, Mohinder realized his mistake in coming here. "I'd like a grande chai tea, a tall strawberry crème Frappacino and a venti special blend, black with su--" He nearly choked. That had been his standard order up until a week ago. The barista frowned at him when he paused. "Just... Just the chai-- No, never mind."

He'd never ran out of a shop so fast in his life. Mohinder ignored the car, walking passed it. He needed to clear his head because driving in this condition would just get someone hurt.

Mohinder knew he had done the right thing sending Molly to Chennai to stay with his mother. It was safe there. Sylar couldn't get her there. Hopefully. Not that it mattered. Mohinder still felt cheated. Sylar had taken everyone and everything from him: his father, his research, his ability to trust anyone, his livelihood. He would not get his hands on that girl too. His daughter, even if they were not related by blood.

Mohinder ignored the darkness as he cut down an alley. It was stupid to do that, even in the day time, but Mohinder did not always think things through. He was running from himself, from his thoughts, from-—

Mohinder blacked out. He must have. One moment he was in Brooklyn and now he was...here. Whereever here happened to be. His first thought, though he knew it to be insane, was that the serial killer was behind this. How else could it have happened?!

“H-Hello?” he vocalized, swallowing thickly. "W-Where am I?"

Roleplay Sample - Journal:
[Mohinder's hands shake as he flips through the only website his phone seems capable of accessing: a bulletin board filled with strange and confusing things. Things that...seem almost familiar. The feeling makes him shudder.]

[He decides to add something, via text, to this website.]

[Sender: M.Suresh] Where am I? Where is this?

[And now he's got a choice. Wait for a reply? Or go out to explore?]

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function?
Though I am taking Mohinder from before he's given himself powers to help him deal with the strange world he finds himself in, he is able to defend himself and maintain a cool head even when faced with bizarre, frightening, and indeed, very dangerous situations. Later on in the show and in the comic, he proves to be mentally resilient when faced with his own death. I expect Mohinder will freak out quite a bit before he comes to terms with where he is, but he adapts very well to new situations, often reinventing himself to do so as any good research scientist must.

Questions? Comments? Crazed and creative statements? Those go here.
Mohinder was in the Facility back before the jump to DW. I'd like him to start over fresh (I'm taking him from a new canon point) but I think it would also be interesting if he has memories of this place and the people here. I don't think any of his friends from before have survived and I know that Fac has changed quite a lot from the eight people to one bathroom days. Let me know if it is okay for him to suffer flash backs from time to time. If not, that's fine too!

A somewhat sad thread from an old LJ game thread...  Mohinder and Molly.
The start of a very, very long PSL...with Sylar over at Sixwordstories
